This lullaby is sung by the character of Holy Mary in Alessandria’s version of the theatrical representation of “Gelindo”, well known locally because it has been on the bill every year at the San Francesco theater since 1927.
The text seems to come originally from the Alto Monferrato in the 17th century and as all the popular creations, whether orally transmitted or not, there are countless versions.
